Class Structure and Grading
This class meets on Tuesday afternoons 2:00 pm to 4:50 pm. for 15 weeks. During class time, you will complete tutorials (learn) and cases (apply) at your own pace.
Your final grade is based on the number of tutorials and cases completed (see chart below). When you satisfactorily complete the required activities for the grade you desire, you need not complete any more.
In-Class Activities
Use scheduled class time to:
You are responsible for the following:
* Do your own work—academic dishonestly will not be tolerated and will be dealt with as needed.
* Set your personal course goals and course work schedule adhering to the following guidelines:
* Download data files from RMC network or Internet onto disks. Purchase several disks for use in this class and label them so you can easily find your data files. Download only the data files you need for the tutorials and cases you are completing. Use the File Finder section in the back of the textbook to identify the needed files.
* Save and back up and all electronic files needed for the course and retain all returned assignment sheets until grades are received and verified (tutorials and cases will not be returned).
* Conduct yourself in a professional manner and follow classroom procedures.
* You must turn in a tutorial and its related case(s) at the same time. Arrange the tutorial pages and the cases in the order they were printed and then staple a cover sheet to the tutorial and case pages. Include on your cover sheet, your name, application name (ex: Word), tutorial or case number, and page or step number to receive proper credit.
* Only cover sheet will be returned if your work is acceptable.
My responsibilities
I am responsible for the following aspects of this course:
* Prescribe the learning activities and course content.
* Guide, monitor, and evaluate your progress and work.
* Treat you fairly and consistently.
* Be available to assist you as needed (and warranted) to meet course objectives.
* Maintain an environment that is conducive to active learning and the independent progress methodology
The data files listed below are starting files for the tutorials and cases you need to complete. You will begin your work in subsequent tutorials and cases with the data files you created in previous tutorials and cases. For example, after completing Tutorial 1, you begin Tutorial 2 with your ending data files from Tutorial 1. Therefore, you must complete the tutorials and cases in order and finish them completely before continuing to the next tutorial or case, or your data files will not be correct.
Changing Disks—Access saves the active database to your disk automatically, both on a periodic basis and whenever you close a database. This means that if your database is stored on a disk in Drive A, you should never remove the disk while the database file is open.
Changes
I retain the right to adjust content, grading standards, and other matters related to this course, provided such changes do not increase course requirements.
Students are expected to do their own work. Plagiarism is defined as using someone else's work, ideas, or words without giving the author credit for using them. This can mean anything from downloading papers from the Internet, to using a friend's paper or computer files, to inaccurately quoting or paraphrasing ideas or words from a text. Plagiarism is a major offense in the academic community of which you are a part. The professor will recommend severe penalties for students who commit blatant acts of plagiarism
